Este mini álbum rompe el hielo con una reinterpretación del tema “Wendy”, que ya aparecía en el debut en solitario de Malin, “The fine art of self-destruction”. Tras la andanada power-popera del pistoletazo de salida llegan los aires fronterizos de “Stranger Than Fools”, el primero de los dos temas inéditos contenidos en el EP. El segundo es “Cigarettes And Violets”, una canción que permanentemente amenaza con acabar entre guitarrazos desbocados sin llegar a abandonar nunca la contención de la que hace gala Malin en este EP. Capítulo aparte merecen las versiones. “Death or Glory” de los Clash acaba aquí adoptando aires de folk confesional. “Hungry Heart”, el conocido tema de Springsteen, también se hace merecedor de las atenciones de Malin. Y quien tenga dudas sobre la admiración del neoyorquino por el Boss, sólo tiene que escuchar la versión que cierra el disco de “The 3 Martini Lunch”, el tema escrito originalmente por Graham Parker. Es aquí donde más fácilmente se puede apreciar la profunda influencia que la obra del de New Jersey está ejerciendo sobre esta nueva etapa de un Malin que de icono del glam-rock neoyorquino de última generación pasó a ejercer como tímido cantautor entre el rock y la música de raíces.
